Siding prices at a glance
Read this first: the numbers below are general industry ranges published by the sources named in each row, gathered in October 2026. They are national estimates, not quotes and not promises, and they are not prices from Siding Companies Wichita or any contractor. Prices are set by the siding contractor that quotes your job, and your actual cost depends on your house, the material, local labor and what is found when old siding comes off.

Whole-house siding replacement: what drives the price
Two houses of the same size on the same Wichita street can get very different siding quotes. The biggest factors:
- Wall area. Siding is priced by the square (100 square feet of wall). Two-story homes and homes with many gables have more wall area per square foot of floor. See how much siding do I need?
- Material and product line. Within each material, premium lines, thicker panels, insulated backers and factory finishes cost more.
- Removal and disposal. Tearing off one or more old layers adds labor and dumpster costs (see removal).
- Repairs underneath. Rotted sheathing, sill plates and framing found during tear-off are usually priced separately. Ask how they will be handled before you sign.
- Trim, soffit, fascia and wraps. Corner boards, window wraps, frieze boards and eaves can be a large share of the total.
- House wrap, flashing and insulation board. Worth it, but they add cost.
- Height and access. Tall walls, steep lots and tight side yards need more equipment and time.
- Permits. Required for larger jobs in most cities.
Example (math illustration only): a ranch with about 1,800 square feet of wall, multiplied by HomeGuide's published vinyl range of about $4 to $12 per square foot, gives roughly $7,200 to $21,600 before removal, trim and repairs. This is arithmetic on a published range, not a quote.
See siding replacement.
New construction and addition siding
Siding a new home, addition or garage skips tear-off, but still involves house wrap, flashing, trim and the material itself. Labor alone is often listed at about $2 to $6 per square foot in HomeGuide's guide. Matching an addition to an existing house can add cost if the original product is hard to find. See siding installation.
Siding repair cost
Angi's published guide puts typical siding repairs at about $367 to $1,520, averaging around $925, or roughly $26 per square foot, nationally. Its per-square-foot repair ranges by material run about $2 to $4 for vinyl, $3 to $11 for fiber cement, $4 to $13 for wood and $5 to $7 for aluminum. Many contractors have a minimum charge for small jobs, and matching hard-to-find profiles can push repairs higher. See siding repair and repair vs. replacement.
Hail damage siding cost
Hail repairs range from a few panels to a full re-side, so there is no single number. When insurance is involved, the insurer's estimate, your deductible and how your policy handles matching drive what you pay. A contractor's quote and the adjuster's estimate may differ; the contractor can document items the adjuster missed. See hail damage siding.
Vinyl siding cost
HomeGuide lists installed vinyl at about $4 to $12 per square foot, the widest range of any material because vinyl spans thin builder-grade panels to thick, insulated premium lines. In the 2025 Cost vs. Value report, a vinyl siding replacement project averaged $17,950 nationally and recouped about 97% at resale (Zonda / JLC, 2025 Cost vs. Value report). See vinyl siding.
Fiber cement and James Hardie cost
HomeGuide lists installed fiber cement at about $6 to $15 per square foot. Weight, cutting with dust control and paint or factory finish all affect labor. The 2025 Cost vs. Value report's fiber-cement siding replacement averaged $21,485 nationally and recouped about 114% at resale. See fiber cement siding.
LP SmartSide (engineered wood) cost
HomeGuide lists installed engineered wood at about $7 to $12 per square foot. Prefinished boards cost more up front than primed boards but skip field painting. See LP SmartSide siding and LP SmartSide vs. James Hardie.
Steel siding cost
HomeGuide lists installed steel at about $7 to $16 per square foot. Gauge, profile and finish drive the price; agricultural panels on outbuildings are typically priced differently from residential steel lap siding. See steel siding.
Wood and cedar siding cost
HomeGuide lists installed cedar at about $6 to $16 per square foot and board and batten at about $5 to $13. Wood also carries ongoing paint or stain costs. See wood siding.
Stone veneer cost
HomeGuide lists stone accents at about $10 to $45 per square foot installed, a wide range spanning manufactured and natural stone. In the 2025 Cost vs. Value report, a manufactured stone veneer project averaged $11,702 nationally and recouped about 208%, the third-highest return of any project tracked. See stone veneer.
Soffit and fascia cost
Angi lists soffit replacement at about $6 to $30 per linear foot, with a national average around $2,200, and fascia at about $7 to $22 per linear foot. Rotted rafter tails or sub-fascia add to the cost. See soffit and fascia.
Siding and windows together
There is no single published range for combined siding and window projects, because window prices vary enormously by type, size and brand. Doing both together can save some trim and setup labor and gives better flashing. Ask for quotes both together and separately. See siding and windows and should you replace windows and siding at the same time?
Old siding removal, asbestos and lead
HomeGuide lists old siding removal at about $0.70 to $2.00 per square foot. Multiple layers, asbestos-cement shingles and lead-painted surfaces add cost: asbestos material should be handled by trained professionals (EPA, protect your family from exposures to asbestos), and contractors disturbing paint on pre-1978 homes must follow lead-safe rules (EPA, Renovation, Repair and Painting (lead-safe) program). See old asbestos and aluminum siding replacement.
Insurance and your deductible
This is general information, not insurance or legal advice. Every policy is different, so check yours or ask your agent.
- What is usually covered. Homeowners policies commonly cover sudden damage from hail and wind, minus your deductible. Wear and tear is not covered.
- Deductibles. Some policies have separate or percentage-based wind and hail deductibles. Know yours before you file. The Kansas Insurance Department's shopper's guide explains coverage basics (Kansas Insurance Department, Home and Renters Shopper's Guide).
- Matching and cosmetic damage. Policies differ on whether they pay to replace undamaged siding so it matches, and some exclude cosmetic dents on metal.
- Deductible waivers are a red flag. Be wary of any contractor offering to cover or waive your deductible.
- Assignment of benefits. Kansas law sets rules if you sign benefits over to a contractor, including a five-business-day cancellation right (K.S.A. 50-6,143 (assignment of insurance benefits to a contractor)).
Example (math illustration only): if hail damage is estimated at $9,000 and your wind/hail deductible is $2,500, the insurer's payment toward the covered repair would be about $6,500, subject to your policy's terms. If the estimate is below your deductible, a claim would not pay anything.

Siding cost FAQs
How much does new siding cost for a house?
HomeGuide's published guide puts typical installed siding at about $4 to $13 per square foot, or roughly $10,000 to $32,500 for a 2,500-square-foot house, nationally. Your price depends on wall area, material, removal, trim and repairs, and comes from the contractor's quote.
What is the cheapest siding?
In HomeGuide's ranges, vinyl and hardboard (Masonite) have the lowest starting prices per square foot. The lowest total cost over time also depends on lifespan, maintenance and storm resistance.
How much does siding repair cost?
Angi's published guide puts typical siding repairs at about $367 to $1,520, averaging around $925, nationally. Small single-panel fixes can cost less; repairs involving rot or many panels can cost more.
Does insurance pay for new siding after hail?
Homeowners policies commonly cover sudden hail and wind damage minus the deductible, but how matching and cosmetic damage are handled varies by policy. Check your policy or ask your agent.
Is fiber cement worth the extra cost?
It depends on your goals. In the 2025 Cost vs. Value report, fiber-cement siding replacement recouped about 114% of its cost at resale nationally, compared with about 97% for vinyl. Hail resistance and maintenance matter too.
Why do siding quotes vary so much?
Quotes can differ in material line, squares measured, trim, house wrap, removal, rot repair allowances, permits and warranty. Compare line by line.
